Threshing Days brings attendees up to date on pioneer techniques

An annual celebration and demonstration that commemorates the coming of Mennonite farmers to Marion County will make its 51st appearance Aug. 2, 3, and 4.

This year’s Country Threshing Days, held at the Mennonite Heritage and Agricultural Museum in Goessel, will feature displays of Hart-Parr, Oliver, and White Farm Equipment tractors and equipment, but all makes of equipment are welcome for display.

Events will kick off with a parade downtown at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 3.

Demonstrations of sawmills, draft horses, threshing and field operations, steam tractors, and large stationary engines will be featured through the weekend.

An extensive collection of antique farm equipment will be on display.

The event also will include children’s activities and a pedal tractor pull, with a pedal tractor raffle.

Gates will open at noon Aug. 2. Camper parking will be available. Mennonite meals also will be available. Admission is good for all three days.
