Tabor fills 2 leadership positions

Tabor College has named new leaders of two of its signature programs.

Assistant professor of theology Ryan Loewen will take the reins of the Center of Mennonite Brethren Studies, which preserves stories, theology, and historical memory that shape Mennonite Brethren identity.

From Huron, South Dakota, he is one of 12 immediate family members who graduated from Tabor. He is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. In his graduate studies he has done detailed research on Menno Simons, an early leader of the Anabaptist movement.

Loewen succeeds Peggy Goertzen, who retired this summer after steering the department for 34 years.

Terry Ens has been named director of the Central Kansas Entrepreneurship Center, which Tabor runs in partnership with the city of Hillsboro to support business growth in the county.

Ens, who has a bachelor’s degree from Tabor and has been director of facilities operations there since 2017, previously worked as a business owner, sales manager, and consultant for nationwide companies. He succeeds Jeremy Ensey, who is moving what had been a part-time position into a full-time teaching job.
