Three Goessel High School graduates attending Butler Community College won awards at the Kansas Collegiate Media conference. All are staff writers for “Butler Lantern” and “Grizzly Magazine.”

They are:

• Madeline Reida, an intern with Marion County Record. Reida won second place in spot news and event writing, and third place in feature writing.
• Julia Nightengale, who won first place in special pages for magazine and earned an honorable mention for feature writing.
• Amanda Smith, who won second and third places for breaking news and third place and honorable mention for front page design.
