See the sights
of Christmas lights

Marion-Florence Recreation wants to share the holiday spirit Tuesday with a Christmas light tour.
The tour will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Sports and Aquatic Center in Marion and take people through the festive roads of Marion and Hillsboro.
Dina Vogel, a district bus driver, volunteered to drive the route.
The idea for the tour came from Vogel and recreation director Kevin Dasenbrock.
“I tried to get it going last year with the last director, but it didn’t go any further,” Vogel said. “Kevin is my son’s basketball coach, so he and I started talking and started looking at different venues to try this again.”
Vogel said they looked at other, away venues first, but decided to keep it local this year.
“We might try bigger venues next year,” Vogel said. “We just thought this would be a good idea to get people involved in.”
The final route will be decided by Tuesday.
“We’re looking at lights right now, but if people would like to call and give their addresses we could include them in the route,” Vogel saud.
Inquiries about adding an address to the tour route or requests for more information are being accepted at (620) 381-4636.
The tour will cost $5 per person.
