ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

March 3 — Debris from a semitrailer tire was removed from K-15 at 180th Rd. No problems were found in checking on a vehicle suspiciously being driven around the Tabor College campus. A prisoner was transported from McPherson County Jail to Marion County Jail.

March 4 — Routine activities.

March 5 — A hit-and-run accident at the Tabor College baseball complex was investigated. A vehicle found to be open during a routine patrol was secured. Police supplied information to Kansas Bureau of Investigation about a firearms investigation.

Thursday — An accident in the 100 block of N. Main St. was investigated, but a report on the accident remains incomplete.

Friday — A loose dog was returned to its owner. Police helped locate a person who accidentally may have failed to pay for fuel.

Saturday — A vehicle stalled at Adams and D St. was removed from the roadway. A disconnected 911 call from the 400 block of E. 1st St. was blamed on a child playing with a phone.

Sunday — A driver was warned for improperly displaying a license plate in the 100 block of N. Ash St. Police helped a locked-out driver.

MARION

March 3 — An open window in the 200 block of E. Santa Fe St. was checked.

March 4 — Sparking power lines were reported in the 300 block of W. Main St. Police talked to residents about a scam and a civil issue and responded to the 300 block of Locust St. about what proved to be a civil matter. No problems were found in checking on a disconnected 911 call from the 300 block of S. 1st St.

March 5 — Drivers were warned for having defective license plate lights near US-56 and Timber Rd. and near US-56 and Industrial St., where the driver also was ticketed for having no proof of liability insurance.

Thursday — A hit-and-run accident was investigated in the 100 block of S. Lincoln St. A lockdown drill was conducted at Marion Elementary School. Drivers were warned for failing to signal a turn in the 600 block of N. Cedar St. and for speeding at US-56 and Timber Rd. and US-56 and Cedar St. A resident wanting to report a theft was referred to the sheriff’s department. No problems were found in checking on a disconnected 911 call from the 900 block of E. Main St.

Friday — Drivers were warned for having defective taillights at Main and 5th Sts. and for having a defective tag light at US-56 and Cedar St.

Saturday — Items thought stolen in a burglary in the 300 block of S. 1st St. later were located in the residence. Items thought stolen from the 1000 block of Industrial St. also were located. Police investigated a noise complaint in Central Park and an animal complaint in the 300 block of Locust St. Drivers were warned for having a defective headlight near Main and Coble Sts., a defective taillight near Main and Thorp Sts., and a defective tag light near Main and Locust Sts.

Sunday — A dog loose in the 100 block of Eastmoor Dr. was returned to its owner. Drivers were warned for running a stop sign near Main and Locust Sts. and for impeding traffic near Cedar St. and US-56.
