ACTIVITY REPORTS
Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.
HILLSBORO
Dec. 16 — Appointments with a child advocacy group were arranged for a pending investigation. A locked-out resident was referred to a locksmith. A dog was reported loose in the 300 block of W. D St. Police met with a resident about a civil matter.
Dec. 17 — Suspicious activity reported in the 400 block of E. Grand Ave. turned out to be utility workers looking for cable lines. A driver was warned for running a stop sign at US-56 and Santa Fe St.
Dec. 18 — A disturbance in the 200 block of N. Washington St. was determined to be a non-violent disagreement. Police talked to a resident about a civil issue.
Dec. 19 — An officer attended an investigative interview arranged with a child advocacy agency in Newton.
Dec. 20 — A driver was warned for speeding on US-56 at Adams St.
Dec. 21 — A vehicle reportedly not staying in its lane on US-56 at Kanza Rd. was not located. Drivers were warned for speeding in the 300 block of E. D St. and on US-56 at Adams St. Police gave a couple of gallons of gas to a driver who ran out on K-15 at 220th Rd. Police talked to a resident about a civil matter.
Dec. 22 — Routine duties.
Dec. 23 — An officer attended another investigative interview at a child advocacy agency in Newton. Police found no problems in checking on a resident. A driver was warned for running a stop sign at Ash and F Sts.
Christmas Eve — Police met with a resident about a civil matter.
Christmas Day — A resident arranged for police to stand by during a civil matter.
Thursday — A drunken driver reported on US-56 was not located. Police helped a driver who locked keys in a vehicle and checked streetlights for the city’s electric department.
Friday — A black pickup reported to be driving too fast in the 400 block of Oak St. was not found. Police talked to a resident about an issue involving a rental agreement.
MARION
Dec. 16 — Police talked to the driver of a loud vehicle in the 200 block of N. Cedar St.
Dec. 17 — A scam of an undisclosed nature was reported in the 1500 block of E. Main St. A resident’s car keys were reported missing. Drivers were warned for speeding near US-56 and Cedar St. and for having defective equipment near Cedar and Hudson Sts. and near US-56 and Industrial St.
Dec. 18 — A bad check was issued in the 300 block of E. Main St. Drivers were warned for speeding near Main and Billings St., for failing to signal near Kellison St. and Eisenhower Dr. and near Lawrence St. and Eisenhower Dr., and for having defective equipment near Main St. and Eastmoor Dr.
Dec. 19 — Two dogs loose in the 300 block of Cleveland St. were returned to their yard. A parking ticket was issued in the 300 block of Grant St. Drivers were warned for improper passing near Lawrence St. and Eisenhower Dr. and for having defective equipment near Main and Thorp Sts.
Dec. 20 — No problems were found in checking on a reported disturbance in the 300 block of Locust St. Police talked to a resident about a civil issue. Drivers were warned for speeding and for having defective equipment near US-56 and Cedar St. and for speeding on US-56 near Timber Rd.
Dec. 21 — Police checked on a person walking on US 56 just east of town and talked to a person about possible illegal dumping. Drivers were warned for having defective equipment near US-56 and Timber Rd. and for speeding near US-56 and Cedar St.
Dec. 22 — A woman yelling for help in the 700 block of Lawrence St. was determined to be having a mental health crisis and was taken by ambulance to St. Luke Hospital. Drivers were warned for having defective equipment and for speeding near US-56 and Timber Rd. and for failing to signal at Main and Elm Sts.
Dec. 23 — Police investigated a trespassing complaint in the 600 block of S. Cedar St.. A driver warned for having defective equipment near US-56 and Industrial St. was ticketed for having no proof of insurance. Two drivers were warned for speeding near US-56 and Timber Rd., and another was warned for failing to signal in the 100 block of Elm St.
Christmas Eve — Police found no problems in checking a report of a vehicle with an open door at St. Luke Hospital.
Christmas Day — A noise complaint in the 300 block of Cleveland St. was investigated.
Thursday — A hit-and-run accident was reported in the 200 block of N. 3rd St., but no report was made available. No charges were sought after police responded to a disturbance in the 300 block of Locust St. Two drivers were warned for speeding near US-56 and Cedar St., and two others were warned for speeding near US-56 and Industrial St. and near Lawrence St. and Eisenhower Dr. Police did not find a drunken driver reported on US-56. No problems were found in checking on a report of suspicious activity at Central Park. A resident scheduled a time for police to stand by during a civil matter.
