ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Aug. 19 — A report of a person swimming in the city pond turned out to be a dog. Debris was removed from an unspecified roadway.

Aug. 20 — A vehicle illegally parked on city property was removed after the owner was located. A driver was cited for having no insurance and a cracked windshield at US-56 and Adams St.

Aug. 21 — Drivers were warned for failing to yield in the 400 block of S. Adams St. and for speeding in the 200 block of S. Main St., where an automated radar speed check sign was located. Police met with a resident regarding city code violations and checked near Cooperative Grain and Supply after a caller suggested that someone there looked as if he or she needed help.

Thursday — Police investigated an accident in the parking lot of Casey’s General Store and helped provide mental health services after checking on the welfare of a resident of the 100 block of N. Madison St.

Friday — Drivers were warned for running a stop sign in the 600 block of N. Ash St. and for making a J-turn in the 100 block of N. Main St. Police gave a driver at US-56 and Ash St. a ride to Casey’s.

Saturday — A disabled vehicle in the 400 block of S. Birch St. was moved out of traffic.

Sunday — Police investigated an accident at Dollar General, helped a resident find a lost cell phone, and provided information on how to contact a Marion Reservoir park ranger.

MARION

Aug. 19 — A dog loose in the 400 block of Locust St. was taken to a veterinary clinic. A driver was warned for speeding at 1st and Main Sts.

Aug. 20 — A student who left Oasis special education school returned with school staff. No one was found in checking on a report of a suspicious person in Central Park. Debris was removed from traffic in the 1100 block of E. Main St.

Aug. 21 — Police spoke to residents about a civil issue and about a possible scam. Two drivers were warned for speeding near US-56 and Industrial Rd., and one was warned at US-56 and Cedar St.

Thursday — A jail inmate’s vehicle, thought to have been stolen, turned out to have been borrowed by a friend and was located in Moundridge. A driver was warned for speeding at US-56 and Cedar St.

Friday — An animal complaint in the 100 block of Billings St. was investigated.

Saturday — Rules about pit fires were explained to a resident.

Sunday — A driver of a stalled vehicle near Main and Roosevelt Sts. was helped. A case involving a juvenile remains under investigation. No problems were found in checking on a report of suspicious activity in the 200 block of S. Freeborn St. An alarm at Casey’s General Store was attributed to a new employee not knowing a code.
