ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Jan. 23 — Recovered property was returned to its owner.

Jan. 24 — Children ages 9 and 10 broke several mirrors outside a residence in the 200 block of N. Lincoln St., but they and the property owner dealt with the situation without further involvement by police. A driver near Jade and 190th Rds. was warned for speeding. Police gave a ride to a driver with a dead battery.

Jan. 25 — A dog loose in the 200 block of S. Cedar St. was returned to its owner. No problems were found when checking on a disconnected 911 call in the 500 block of S. Adams St. A bank alarm at Great Plains Federal Credit Union accidentally was set off by an employee. A driver at Lincoln and C Sts. was warned for having an obstructed windshield.

Thursday — A woman was arrested after allegedly slapping her husband while taking their child to Hillsboro Community Hospital. A dog owner was cited after the owner’s dog was picked up while running free in the 200 block of S. Cedar St. Another loose dog was captured in the 300 block of N. Ash St. and taken to a veterinary clinic. Police stood by during a civil matter in the 100 block of S. Cedar St.

Friday — A driver in the 300 block of N. Ash St. was cited for speeding.

Saturday — A dog running free in the 300 block of S. Wilson St. eluded capture. No problems were found when police checked on the welfare of a resident of the 200 block of S. Date St. A resident expressed concerns about possible identity theft.

Sunday — A driver was cited for running a stop sign in the 100 block of W. 1st St. Other drivers were warned for speeding in the 100 block of N. Ash St. and for failing to dim headlights at Birch St. and Grand Ave. and at Jefferson and D Sts. Police provided fuel to a motorist who ran out of gas in the 100 block of W. Grand Ave.

MARION

Jan. 23 — Routine activities.

Jan. 24 — A dog running loose in the 300 block of S. Roosevelt St. was taken to a veterinary clinic. Another dog, at Main and Roosevelt Sts., eluded capture.

Jan. 25 — A juvenile was reported to be out of control at Marion County Special Education Cooperative’s Oasis school. Police checked on a reportedly suspicious person and spoke to residents about a vehicle title and a civil property issue.

Thursday — Police again went to Oasis, where a juvenile was reported to be out of control. A possible theft from Family Dollar remains under investigation. A dog running free near the city building was taken to a veterinary clinic. A driver at Walnut and Santa Fe Sts. was warned for having a defective taillight. Police talked to resident about a civil property issue.

Friday and Saturday — Routine activities.

Sunday — A motorist was ticketed for parking on the wrong side of the street in the 500 block of S. Cedar St.
