ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Dec. 27 — Tools were reported stolen from a vehicle in the 200 block of N. Washington St. Minor accidents were investigated in the Salem Home and Dollar General parking lots. A driver was warned for having a headlight that wasn’t working. A noise complaint in the 200 block of S. Elm St. was investigated.

Dec. 28 — The driver of a semitrailer truck hauling a wrecked vehicle on US-56 was stopped and told to secure the load, pieces of which had been falling from the trailer. A dispute between children and a neighbor in 800 block of W. Grand Ave. was investigated. A purchaser of a vehicle was told how to obtain a license plate. A driver was warned about not having trailer lights.

Dec. 29 — A generator was reported stolen from a mobile home in the 300 block of W. 3rd St. A disconnected 911 call from the 400 block of W. Grand Ave. proved to be accidental.

Thursday — Christmas lights were reported damaged in the 400 block of Briarwood Lane. An object blew off one vehicle, damaging the windshield of another. Police checked on the welfare of a resident of the 300 block of N. Lincoln. St.

New Year’s Eve — A stray dog was reported.

New Year’s Day — A burglar alarm in the 500 block N. Ash St. proved to be a false alarm. A damaged traffic sign outside the city limits was reported.

Sunday — Police were called to a landlord-tenant dispute in the 400 block W. B St. A traffic accident in the 400 block of E. D St. was investigated.

MARION

Dec. 28 — Two drivers were warned for equipment violations.

Dec. 29 — A log splitter was reported stolen from the 700 block of N. Cedar St. The owner of two dogs roaming free in the 300 block of S. 3rd St. was contacted. A cooler was reported to have fallen out of a truck. Four drivers were warned for speeding. Police helped a motorist in the 200 block of N. 3rd St.

Thursday — Police were notified of ATVs driving on the city’s dike and on railroad right-of-way. Five drivers were warned for speeding and equipment violations.

New Year’s Eve — A driver was warned for an equipment violation.

New Year’s Day — Police were called to the 700 block of S. Roosevelt St. because of a civil matter. A resident complained of possible harassment. Drivers were warned for running a stop sign and for driving with an obstructed windshield.

Sunday — A resident complained of possible harassment on social media. Police met with people who were riding ATVs on city streets without a permit. A driver was warned for passing in a no-passing zone.
