Patriotism
To the editor:
It’s a sad day in America to watch a great country being destroyed by unbridled lawlessness.
We have masses of illegals — yes, I said illegals — invading the borders of our great, sovereign country. They receive at the expense of the American taxpayer benefits many legal Americans do not. And why are they coming? Joe Biden’s administration has put out the “Welcome” sign.
We can list all the positives and negatives of all the individuals who have served as president of the United States. Have we had the one perfect, unblemished president, yet?
Our elected officials are in Washington, D.C., to represent we, the people. Are we, the people, really being represented?
It appears to me what is being represented is a true hatred of Donald Trump by the majority of the Democratic Party and some Republican traitors.
When I proudly did early voting March 5 for our Republican nominee, I voted for President Trump, not because I agree with his sometimes obnoxious words but rather because I believe he truly loves America and wants to make America great again.
One has to wonder what America’s founding fathers had envisioned for a republic they so diligently fought for.
Is America today what they hoped for? What has happened to the Judeo-Christian principles that laid the foundation for America? The freedom that so many cherish is being taken away bit by bit.
To quote Benjamin Franklin: “Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters.”
Who is your master?
Each of us has a responsibility to preserve our great nation. Why do so many remain silent?
Quoting Thomas Jefferson: “We in America do not have government by the majority; we have government by the majority who participate.... All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.”
Where is your patriotism? Do tears come to your eyes when you hear the national anthem sung patriotically? Do you listen to the words when you recite the Pledge of Allegiance?
Wake up and be honest with yourself. Reflect on a life without freedom. I hope it’s not too late to say, “God Bless America.”
