REPORTED
These offense reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:
SHERIFF
Criminal damage, driving without a license, permitting minor to drive
An unlicensed, underage driver did an estimated $1,240 damage at 5:45 p.m. Jan. 3 to 6,000 pounds of rock at Prairie Lawn Cemetery near Peabody.
No information about how the damage was done or whether charges were sought was included in the offense report, one of three released Friday by the sheriff’s department.
Theft
A Wells model TW101 trailer valued at $2,000 and belonging to Sandra L. Uhrig of Moundridge was reported stolen between 1 a.m. and 3 p.m. Jan. 23 from a building she owns in the 300 block of W. 8th St. in Florence.
Aggravated burglary, aggravated assault, marijuana possession, criminal damage
An acquaintance suspected of being under the influence of drugs and alcohol at 4:39 a.m. Jan. 25 attempted to break into a home in the 200 block of N. Sycamore St. in Peabody and threatened a homeowner and a neighbor with an unspecified blunt object.
Damage to the home was estimated at $5,600.
Richard T. Litton, 40, Peabody, was arrested. According to deputy Joshua Meliza’s report, four grams of marijuana, enough for a dozen “joints,” were seized.
Litton, jailed 11 other times between Feb. 1, 2018, and Jan. 14, 2026, was booked on suspicion of aggravated burglary, aggravated assault, criminal damage, and drug possession.
Charges of disorderly conduct and interference with law enforcement, suggested in an offense report, were not included in his jail booking.
He remains in jail in lieu of posting a $100,000 bond.
HILLSBORO
Possession of THC and drug paraphernalia
A traffic stop for a defective headlight at 9:01 p.m. Thursday in the 300 block of S. Lincoln St. ended in seizure of a gram of concentrated THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, along with a vape pen, a smoking device, and a pocket torch after officer John Huebert smelled marijuana.
No arrest was made, but the case was referred to the county attorney for possible charges.
