Track and field for Centre this season has a few more numbers than last year.

Centre also does golf and swimming cooperatively with Marion.

Centre looks to be competitive in more events this season with a few more athletes trying out.

State qualifier Kaitlynn Bina (800 and 1600) makes her return alongside letter winners Nick Krch (sprints, high and triple jump), Olivia Carlson (horizontal jump), and Robert Spohn (all jumps).

“Our goals for this season are to be competitive in individual events,” coach Alan Stahlecker said, “and qualify athletes for the state track meet.”

Even though there are more athletes this year, Centre’s biggest challenge will be staying competitive in team competition as the team cannot field a variety of entries in a great number of events.

Stahlecker will be conducting his 14th season as head coach, 22nd season overall. Dawson Raymer will be assisting for his second year.

Centre’s first meet of the season takes will be Tuesday in Burrton.

“We had only had two practices before spring break, so much is to be done in preparation for meets starting in April,” Stahlecker said.
