Marcella Woelk

Memorial services for Marcella Ruth (Schmidt) Woelk, 93, Goessel, who passed away July 29, 2026, at Bethesda Home in Goessel, were 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, at Goessel Church, an hour after burial at the church cemetery.

Visitation was 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug 3, at Bethesda Home Chapel in Goessel.

Born June 4, 1933, to Frank K. and Luise (Frey) Schmidt, Marcella graduated from Goessel High School in 1951 and married LeRoy W. Woelk on April 3, 1952, at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church.

They were lifelong residents of Goessel. Marcella spent her career at Bethesda Home, where she was employed for 45½ years, retiring Jan. 2, 2017, from her position as purchasing agent.

She is survived by her children, Bryce L. Woelk (and wife Kathy) of Goessel, Debra L. Ewert (and husband Harris) of Hillsboro, and Kelvin L. Woelk (and wife Jennifer) of Fort Collins, Colorado, and two grandchildren, Amanda “A.J.” Wood (and Stephen Pettigrew) of Valley Center and Michael Woelk (and wife Krysta) of Goessel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Alfred F. Schmidt, Orlando E. Schmidt and Elda (Flaming) Franz, and her beloved husband, LeRoy.
