Lowell Larsen

A celebration of life for Lowell L. Larsen, 90, Burns, who died Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at St. Luke Living Center in Marion, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2023, at the Burns Community Church, led by pastor Jim Helzer.

Lowell was born Dec. 18, 1932, on the Larsen farm north of Burns to William and Adelia M. (Ireland) Larsen.

His paternal grandparents, Jacob and H. Annie (Jorgensen) Larsen, were Danish immigrants who homesteaded the farm and land in the late 1870s. He lived on the Larsen farm until recently.

Lowell was a member of the Burns community his entire life and graduated in 1950 from Burns High School.

Lowell was a livestock farmer with many interests. He was a ham radio operator and a private pilot who had a private airstrip at his farm. In the 1970s, he delivered private planes across the country.

A Burns mail carrier for many years, he also did electrical work for area neighbors, helped at a hardware store, and helped his brother, Clyde, at his service station in Burns.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Milton, Clyde, Ruth Aubuchon, and Florence Biehl; niece Leah Fay Larsen; and nephew Timothy Larsen.

He is survived by his cousins, Jeraldine (Larsen) Sprouse of Santa Barbara, California; A. Cordell Larsen of Andover, and Rose (Larsen) Decker of El Dorado, and by his nieces and nephews, Phyllis (Larsen) Ericson of Lincoln, Nebraska; Bruce Larsen of Parsons; Milton Larsen of Gig Harbor, Washington; Eric Larsen of Chicago; David Larsen of Wichita; Bill Biehl of Lenexa; and Bonnie (Biehl) Bohn of Basehor; and by his very special neighbors, the Jodi and Jim Bob Watkins family.
