Hillsboro library to offer free swimming

“Oceans of Possibilities,” the summer reading program that many county libraries are offering, will include free swimming and other activities in Hillsboro.

No signup or other participation is needed to take advantage of free swimming from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Hillsboro Aquatic Center.

Various activities and games, including a piñata and bubbles, are planned.

For a fee, children and adults also may sign up for craft classes in the city meeting room across from the library.

A $3 discount is available for those already signed up for the reading program. Registrations are being accepted until 9 p.m. Saturday at the library.

From 2 to 3:30 p.m. July 26, kids will work on three crafts per participant. Cost will be $15 per child.

From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 27, adults will work on a hoop and cord craft.

Outdoor movie nights also are being planned for late July and August.

The library also is assembling an ocean-themed poster of hundreds of small squares that need, filled with colored stickers.
