Hillsboro golfer has career best at Marion

Hillsboro junior Lincoln Wichert placed second in a 36-hole challenge Friday that included play on both Marion’s and Hillsboro’s golf courses.
Wichert won on the Marion course and placed fourth on the Hillsboro course.
“He posted his lowest career score in the morning, shooting a solid 4 over par (76) to win the top medalist honors,” coach Scott O’Hare said.
As a team, Hillsboro placed fifth out of 11 schools. Centre was seventh, and Marion was ninth.
Easton Glessner from Centre was seventh in the overall 36-hole challenge. Karsen Kroupa from Centre placed 32nd. Daniel Rziha and Julian Resser ended up in 42nd and 43rd place.
Marion’s Gavin Wasmuth placed 21st. Jacob Tharp was 35th and Jordy Raymer was right behind him in 36th.
Hillsboro’s Annaliese Jorgenson was 27th; Braxton Hiebert, 29th; Monroe James, 31st; and Reese Duerksen, 41st.
Regional golf is scheduled Monday for all county schools.
Goessel will be at Halstead-Wedgewood golf course. Centre will be at Washington-Cedar Hills golf course. Hillsboro will be at Eureka Country Club. And Marion will be at Atchison Golf Club at Bellevue.
