Fireworks rules vary throughout the county
When fireworks can be discharged depends on where the shooter is. The county and each city set different policies for when people can shoot fireworks.
County
Fireworks may be shot inside Lakeshore Dr. at the county lake, but not at Marion Reservoir.
Otherwise, hours are 8 a.m. to midnight Thursday to Saturday; 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday; and 8 a.m. to midnight Monday to July 5. Retail sales require a $50 permit and $500 cash bond.
Florence
Fireworks will be allowed to be sold and shot from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through July 3; 4 p.m. until midnight July 4; and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. July 5. A fireworks stand at 310 Main St. will be open from Thursday until July 4.
Hillsboro
Fireworks may be discharged from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, and July 3; and 10 a.m. to midnight July 4.
Marion
Fireworks may be sold and discharged from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, and July 3; and from 9 a.m. to midnight July 4.
Peabody
Fireworks will be allowed 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday; 8 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday; 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday; 8 a.m. to midnight July 3 and 4; and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. July 5.
