Goessel Community Foundation awarded community grants totaling $11,500 to seven nonprofit organizations on April 20.

The grants are made possible by donations matched by the Patterson Family Foundation.

Grants included:

  • $3,500 to Marion County Fire District #2 to supplement board room renovations. This grant adds funds to the Bruce Schmidt Memorial Fund dedicated to this project.
  • $2,000 to Bethesda Home to supplement expenses for its Friendship Meal Program.
  • $1,500 to Mennonite Heritage and Agricultural Museum for the “Journey of a Lifetime: 1874 Immigration Experiences” celebration in 2024.
  • $1,500 to the Goessel school district’s Early Childhood Family Engagement Night for opportunities and education activities for parents of pre-school age children.
  • $1,500 to Goessel Public Library for its 2024 Reading Kickoff, which will begin with an adventure to Maxwell Game Preserve.
  • $750 to Families & Communities Together for its Marion County Dolly Parton Imagination Library program, providing children free age-appropriate books each month until the child reaches age 5. Books include directions and activities so parents may read, interact, and connect with their children.
  • $750 to Marion County Core Community to help people build resources necessary to walk out of poverty.

In some editions, a digit was missing from the total amount of grants reported.
