REPORTED

These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

US-50 west of Nighthawk Rd.

Phillip E. Marquis, 60, Wichita, drove a 2003 Peterbilt semi-trailer tractor off the road — first to the right and then to the left, striking speed limit and no-passing signs — during a thunderstorm at 10:16 p.m. Aug. 14, according to a report released Friday.

The semi, owned by Simmons Transport of Kechi, became stuck in a ditch and was towed. It sustained damage characterized as minor to its right rear.

Deputy Austin Spencer’s report blamed the accident primarily on weather and secondarily on inattentive driving.

Washington and Main Sts., Burns

Unlicensed 17-year-old Charles A. Blunck, Burns, was ticketed for operating an all-terrain vehicle on a public street and having no liability insurance after an ATV he was driving at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 16 sideswiped a 2016 Ford Escape owned and driven by Cecilia M. Kennedy, 65, Burns.

Deputy Bruce Burke’s report said Blunck’s ATV was not damaged, and Kennedy’s Ford sustained only minor damage.

US-50 east of Old Mill Rd.

Carolyne W. Gakio, 35, Newton, hit at deer at 1:38 a.m. Aug. 20 while driving a 1998 Toyota Camry owned by Steven Voth of the same Newton address.

The car remained drivable with damage to its front left, hood, and undercarriage.

Chevy owner Thomas N. Taylor of Hillsboro was inside the store at the time.

The only damage reported was to the rear bumper of Wilson’s pickup.

Dollar General parking lot

Driving legally on a learner’s permit with a parent in the ca, 15-year-old Kale S. Childers, Hillsboro, hit the left front fender of a parked 2006 Ford Mustang with the right rear bumper of his 2008 Ford Taurus as he was backing out of a parking space at 5:35 p.m. Sunday.

The Taurus, owned by Trent J. Miller of the same address, sustained a paint scuff. The Mustang, owned by Douglas G. Walles of rural Hillsboro, was dented.

Shilo D. Childers of the same in-town address was a passenger in the Taurus. Cash E. Walles of the same rural address was sitting behind the wheel of the Mustang.
