REPORTED

These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

Mustang Rd. north of 50th Rd.

David L. Rempel, 59, rural Peabody, backed his 2009 Ford F-350 out of a driveway at 6:13 p.m. Oct. 31 and into a legally parked 2019 Ram 150 owned by Wheels Inc. fleet rental company of Des Plaines, Illinois.

Deputy Landon Goodman’s report blamed the accident on improper backing by Rempel, but no ticket was issued.

Rempel’s pickup was undamaged, according to Goodman’s report. The fleet rental truck sustained damage to its hood and front but remained drivable.

US-77 south of 50th Rd.

Drake R. Middleton, 23, El Dorado, hit a deer at 6:52 p.m. Nov. 4 with his 2013 Jeep Compass, which remained drivable despite damage to its undercarriage, front, hood, and both front fenders.

US-56 east of Ridge Rd.

In separate accidents, one driver lost control at 7:30 a.m. and two others at 8:14 a.m. Nov. 5, slamming their vehicles into bridge rails.

At 7:30 a.m., Ryan Richter, 48, Marion, lost control of his 2003 Dodge Dakota, damaging its entire front. The pickup was towed.

At 8:14 a.m., Thomas L. Butler, 48, Hutchinson, lost control his 2000 Jeep Wrangler, which sustained damage to the front and rear of its passenger side but remained drivable.

At the same time, Breanna L. Stinnett, 24, Marion, lost control of her 2003 Ford Mustang, which sustained damage deemed disabling to its front and rear. John Ehrhardt, 40, and Triston Ehrhardt, 10, both of the same Marion address, were passengers.

K-15 south of 280th Rd.

Diane E. Hannah, 58, Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba, was killed and four others injured at 9:20 a.m. Nov. 5 when her northbound 2021 Jeep Cherokee was hit head-on by a southbound 2011 Ford F-150 that slid into her lane on an ice-covered bridge.

The Ford’s driver, Antunez Rodriguez, 39, Omaha, and three passengers were taken to Salina Regional Health Center by Tampa and Hillsboro ambulances. The passengers were identified as Mariela Gomez, 32; Ashley Abtuinez, 15; and Mayte Abtuez, 11, all of Omaha but from a different address than the driver’s.

Deputy Travis Wilson’s report blamed the accident not only on icy conditions but also on Rodriguez driving too fast for conditions and on the wrong side of the road. However, no tickets were issued.

Both vehicles were estimated by Wilson to have been destroyed.

Nighthawk Rd. north of 150th Rd.

Ann M. Schrick, 54, Sedgwick, hit a deer at 5:10 p.m. Nov. 7 with her 2016 Ford Escape, which sustained damage characterized as minor.

US-50 east of Quail Creek Rd.
