Three Marion High School seniors — Becky Berry, Barbara Christensen, and Connie Jost — are candidates for 1965 queen of courts. A dance is planned in the high school band room after Friday’s basketball game. High school students and graduates are invited.
Re-opening of Cumpton’s Ladies Wear store will be Jan. 23 in the former Jackson’s location east of Marion National Bank.
Bill Coats of St. Joseph, Missouri, will open an all-new farm supply store, Marion Farm Supply, Inc., within a couple of weeks in the Merrill building recently occupied by Cumpton’s.
A widespread hunt for a lost 9-year-old boy took place Wednesday evening east of Florence. The boy, Herbert Schambron, was found three hours after his disappearance, 2½ miles from home, asleep at an underpass on US-50 east of Florence.
New county commissioners sworn in at noon Monday are Ed Navrat, O.H. Hiebert, and Herb Hiebert, commission chairman. Also taking oaths of office were Viola Jost, Lenora Klose, Kathryn Schimpf, Geraldine Seibel, Alma Wiebe, Fred Allen, Ezra Bernhardt, Henry Loveless, and Dean C. Batt.
