Dobbs School, a cut stone, one-room rural schoolhouse, typical of the history-filled days of Kansas before the turn of the century, will soon come back to life on the campus of Kansas State Teachers College, Emporia.

The 93-year-old school house, with virtually complete and in- detail records, stands on ground soon to be inundated by the water of Marion Reservoir, the dam for which is now being built across the Cottonwood River.

The schoolhouse is being donated by owners, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Kruse.

Pretty, petite, and charming Jackie Thomas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Thomas, was crowned football queen Friday evening and reigned over the homecoming victory as the Warriors defeated Remington 21-14. Queen Jackie’s attendants were Roxanna Zerger and Susan Lentz.

The “Big Three” of Republican politics in this area, Governor Wm. Avery, Senator Jim Pearson, and Congressman Garner Shriver, will all be in Marion Sunday afternoon to meet with any and all Marion Countians in a pre-election rally and free barbecue in Marion City Park.

No one was present this week to claim prize money offered by Marion Cash Days. Forrest N. Arnold, Hiawatha, missed $200; Allen Sangwin, Marion, $10; Anna Kline, Marion, $15; John D. May, Marion, $15; and Jerry Bacon, Wichita, $25.

Marion Warriors made their homecoming celebration a success Friday by hosting and defeating the Remington Broncos, 21-14. Three Warriors, Gary Melcher, Kerry Domke, and John Loney each scored a touchdown in one of those first three periods.

Loney was injured shortly after scoring his 60-yard fumble recovery. His spleen was ruptured and he was taken to St. Luke Hospital, then to Halstead Hospital by ambulance the following day where his spleen was removed He hopes to return to Marion soon.
