After an early morning inspection of the new road department warehouse in Marion, county commissioners agreed Monday to accept the building. Flaming Metal Systems of Peabody will be paid $33,790 for constructing the heavy equipment storage building on N. Coble St. The winning bid for wiring the warehouse went to Elcon Services of Hillsboro.

Four pairs of seniors are in the running to wear king and queen crowns during homecoming Friday at Centre High School. The candidates are Monte Frantz and Kim Nickel, Todd Bevan and Janet Kristek, Kent Remmers and Sherri Tajchman, and Kirk Watt and Jo Ellen Vinduska.

Kansas Drilling won the 25th annual Marion men’s bowling tournament this weekend at MarBowl Lanes. Team members are Gary Barker, Jim Mareda, Danny Rudolph, Jim Rudolph, and Bob Winter.

Kelley Enos, a senior at Marion High School, was named homecoming queen during half-time ceremonies Saturday. Her parents are Phyllis and Eugene Enos. Her escort was Michael Bina, son of Laverne and Harriet Bina.

Marion County Emergency Food Bank recently received a $328 donation from Christian Rural Overseas Program. The organization returned to the community part of the money raised in last year’s CROP walk.
