Marion city commissioners toured the community Monday, evaluating sub-standard property. They were embarrassed that one of the complaints was about the former Santa Fe depot, owned by the city.

Other areas were praised as many owners have repaired or torn down buildings and kept vacant lots mowed better than usual this summer.

Traffic ventured across the Main and Cedar Sts. intersection Friday for the first time in months. The curves are designed to improve visibility from all directions.

Pizza Hut of Marion opened Monday, bringing new opportunities for area consumers and more competition for area restaurants.

State Farm Insurance agent Becky Walsh has been appointed agent in Marion, filling a vacancy left by the death of Dean Pippin.

Jeff and Kelly Henry and their 2-year-old son, Oliver, have moved to Marion from Wichita. Henry is a family practice physician at St. Luke Medical Center. He chose Marion because of the quality of staff and medical facilities and the friendliness of the people.
