Our readers, we know, are greatly interested in the progress of work on the sugar factory in process of erection.
Material is on the ground, and work is progressing as rapidly as possible. The building is being constructed of stone, John Nelson having the contract.
Messrs. Rugg and Fox, the proprietors, also are erecting comfortable residences on the capacious grounds donated to them by the city.
Mr. R. Calhoun has moved his boot and shoe shop into new quarters between Costello’s store and the Banner office.
A gentle and refreshing shower fell here nearly all day Wednesday. Now, vegetation will boom. Our people trudged around in the mud Wednesday with real delight.
Died, in Marion Centre, Kansas, Saturday night, April 24th, 1880, Mrs. Mary Margaret Case, wife of Mr. A.E. Case of this city.
A petition praying Congress to grant right of way to the AT&SF Railroad Company for the construction of a railroad through Indian Territory was largely signed in Marion Centre, as is should have been.
It is said that J.D. Morgan is contemplating the starting of a daily paper in Florence.
