Wrestlers cinch 2nd at Eureka

The Warriors followed up their tournament championship at Halstead by finishing second of 20 teams Saturday at Eureka, scoring 158 points, with two bracket-winning wrestlers.

“These guys work really hard and it is paying off,” coach Chad Adkins said.

Jarrett Johnson went 3-0 at 126-pounds and Tyler Palic went 4-0 at 195-pounds to become tournament champions in their respective brackets. Palic’s win was his second championship of the year.

Bryce Shults and Remington Putter each went 4-1 to place third at their respective weights.

Adkins said he was pleased with the tournament results despite losing to El Dorado as three of Marion’s varsity wrestlers did not compete.

The Warriors compete next at 3 p.m. Friday in Hoisington.
