Warriors take 4th at league cross-country

The Warriors boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams each placed 4th Thursday at the league meet in Bennington.

“League is another meet that makes me very proud,” coach Rebecca Hofer said. “Almost everyone received a personal record.”

She said varsity runners ran especially well against competitive league competition.

Coming in second, Colin Williams placed highest of all Marion’s varsity runners, finishing in 17 minutes, 39 seconds. Hofer said Williams also improved his personal record by 45 seconds.

Finishing in 8th place, Emily Hague medaled in the girls’ race at 20:48. McKenzee Remmers was 10th at 21:15 and Meggan Frese was 14th at 21:37, both also medaled.

For the boys, Tyler Arocha placed 19th at 19:18, Ethan Darnall was 28th at 19:57, Jarrett Johnson was 39th at 20:23, Magnus Maarslet was 40th at 20:29, Joeb Corona was 61st at 22:13, and Devin Hamm was 71st at 25:34.

For the girls A.J. Arterburn was 38th at 26:01 and Brittany Hett was 51st at 32:05.

Finishing their season on a high note, middle school runners Bethany Grimmett and David Sawyer both place 2nd in their respective races.

Hofer said Hague, Remmers, Frese, as well as all the boys but Hamm, would run at regionals.

“I am excited to see how they run,” she said.

The Warriors race at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lake Afton in Goddard.
