Warriors hope to continue winning trend

Staff writer

The Warriors are ready to come out and play.

Peabody-Burns boys’ basketball team may have lost eight seniors from the 2014-15 rosters, but head coach Caleb Good feels that the team has potential to grow and will give it all they have.

“We are definitely going to be younger,” Good said, “but we have a good group of guys and they’re close and working hard.”

Junior Austin Reynolds and junior Jayton Scott return as team leaders.

A new basketball player, senior Clayton Philpott, also will help fill out the roster. Good said that Philpott will stand out for the athleticism he will bring.

“We have a guy who is a senior that has not played the last few years, so he’s kind of a newcomer,” Good said.

Peabody-Burns had a 6-15 record in 2013-14, 9-12 last season, and are hoping to increase wins again.

This will be Good’s eight season coaching, and second as Warriors’ head coach.

“I’ve always loved basketball,” Good said. “I really enjoy working with the guys and trying to help lead them in their lives.”

Even though the team is young and new, Good said they are prepared and ready for the season to get underway.

“We’re ready to go,” Good said. “I think everybody is pretty excited about the season getting underway. (Our goal is to) just to go out every night and be competitive and give maximum effort.”
