Warrior forensics take first at SES

The Marion High School forensics team picked up first- place out of 11 teams Saturday at Southeast of Saline.

Saturday’s performance secured five tickets to May’s Class 2A state championship in Wichita in the process.

Hap Waddell, Grant Leffler, Colin Williams, Sam Kelsey, and Kyle Pierce all qualified.

The duo of Waddell and Leffler were winners in duets, two places in front of Williams and Caleb Hett for third.

The duo of Dante Snyder and Saragrace Felvus finished sixth also.

Kelsey was second in poetry to go along with a third place in prose.

Pierce snagged third place in informative, and the duos of Waddell and Leffler and Williams and Hett picked up third, and fourth, respectively, in improvisational duet acting.

Jarred Raye was fifth in solo humorous and Felvus finished fourth in solo serious.

“It was a great meet for us,” coach Janet Killough said. “We thought there’d be more teams, but the bad weather gave us an advantage. It was good because we got second earlier in the week at Hillsboro and it was a good week for us.”

On tap for the Warriors is a Thursday meet at Centre and a Saturday meet at Moundridge.
