Volunteers paint ‘M’ for 20th anniversary
Staff writer
The big concrete M overlooking Marion’s athletic facilities received a makeover Thursday evening for its 20th anniversary, a day before the Warriors’ football scrimmage.
Marlin Buchholz, Roger Hannaford, Andy Hansen, Jeremiah Lange, and Alex Case applied a fresh coat of white paint to the concrete letter etched into a hill.
It took 12 gallons of paint to cover the 20 square yards of concrete, and weed-eaters trimmed the surrounding pasture.
The concrete was poured in 1997, and it has been seven years since its last paint job.
