The volleyball season ended for Marion two weeks ago, but there was still recognition to be had Sunday.

Three Warriors were named to the Heart of America all-league team, announced via email. Setter Chloe Burkholder was named to the second team, while Tori Shults and libero Jayden May were awarded honorable mention.

Chloe was the team’s most frequent server. She totaled with 367 serve attempts through the Heart of America tournament Oct. 13, while maintaining a 90.7 percent success rate. She also excelled in setting, where she assisted on 416 of the team’s 502 kills, averaging 5.3 assists per set.

Tori did a majority of her work on the offensive end, leading the team with 130 kills on 509 attempts. She had 108 spiking errors. Defensively, she maintained her strong presence at the net. Tori racked up 67 solo and 76 total blocks, second-most in each category.

Jayden anchored the backline, averaging 5.5 digs per set. Despite being a freshman, her role expanded as the year progressed. After the first few weeks, coach Kris Burkholder had Jayden taking the first hit at every opportunity. The result was a major increase from 6.9 to 7.9 receives per set.
