The Tabor College Bluejays moved up one spot to No. 11 in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics rankings by defeating unbeaten Kansas Wesleyan 14-7 in Saturday’s homecoming contest. Kansas Wesleyan was ranked No. 15.
Kansas Wesleyan scored first but the Bluejays held them to just 7 points the remainder of the first half. After a 99-yard drive, Tabor scored with one minute, 29 seconds left in the half. The extra point tied the game at 7-7.
After the Bluejays scored on their first possession of the second half and took a 7-point lead, the game turned into a defensive battle with the teams trading punts. Each team had a possession in which they were stopped at the 1-yard line.
Tabor missed a field goal late in the fourth quarter, and a defensive player knocked down a Kansas Wesleyan pass in the end zone as time expired.
Tabor is undefeated in conference play and 6-1 overall. The Bluejays will play Friends at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Wichita.
