Former Marion resident Sylvia Winchester, 90, died Monday in Newton.

A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Zeiner Funeral Home in Marion. Interment will follow at Marion Cemetery.

She was born Aug. 29, 1926, to Walter and Stella (Buethe) Tiede in Latimer. She was a graduate of Herington High School.

She married Steve Winchester on Dec. 24, 1943. They made their home in Marion, where she worked as a tax preparer and was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and VFW Auxiliary.

She moved to Newton from Marion in 2008.

She was preceded in death by husband Steve and four siblings.

She is survived by daughter Belita Goddard of Newton; son Bob of Newton; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice or Comfort Care Homes of Harvey County.
