Sodom’s sin was not inhospitality

To the Editor:

On Oct. 31 this past week we celebrated a momentous 500th year of the Reformation. The truth of the Bible had been controlled and kept back from the “common people,” superstitions and error was preached and used by religious leaders to keep them in ignorance and spiritual darkness. But when people like Tyndale and Wycliffe translated the Bible into the language of the people it spread and the truth started to prevail.

Much change and good has been accomplished by Christians from that time, heirs of the Reformation campaigned for the abolition of the slave trade such as John Wesley and Wilberforce. There were Reformers who were burned at stake for believing “sola scripture” — believing the Bible for what it says.

But here we are again contending for the faith that once was delivered to the saints because ungodly men have crept into the Church and turn the grace of God into lewdness and therefore deny the Lord — New Testament book of Jude.

Now the modern day Pharisees don’t accept sola scripture but have exchanged the truth of God for a lie, inviting in their own carnal colleges that homosexuality is a “mental” illness instead of a sin as God makes extremely clear in both the Old and New Testaments. Remember the first warning Jesus gave in his prophetic sermon about the end of the age, “take heed that no one deceives you for many will coming in My name … and will deceive many.” Matthew 24:4-5 and Mark 13:5-6.

Last week in Letters to the Editor Genesis 19 was said to be about hospitality, not homosexuality, the sin was being inhospitable and mean. This is an example of modern day delusion and falling away from sola scriptura. Regarding Sodom, read all of Genesis 19:1-38. God destroyed five cities for the sexual immorality. And read not just two verses but Ezekiel 16:44-59, notice verse 50 says “they committed abomination before Me.” God did not wipe out five cities with hail fire and brimstone because of not being polite in hospitality.

Beware of twisting scriptures, believe what Jesus warns.
