Wichita lawyer says permanent guardian likely will be appointed Thursday

Staff writer

A candidate has been nominated to serve as guardian for a 90-year-old Marion woman injured six weeks ago in a crash on US-56.

A Sedgwick county judge likely will appoint a guardian for Ruth Cramer at 10 a.m. Thursday, said Wichita lawyer Martin Bauer.

He could not divulge the names of those who stepped forward but said all three were “amazing candidates.”

“Usually we are struggling to find them,” he said. “If I ever have someone in that area with that experience, I am going to keep their names.”

Linda Ogden, a volunteer with Marion Resource Center and Food Bank, said Cramer has been moved to St. Luke Hospital in Marion, but is not up to visitors.

“I’d wait until she is doing just a little bit better,” she said.

Bauer said she will stay at the hospital until she is strong enough to move to a care facility.

He is looking into Cramer’s Medicaid application.

A claim has also been turned in to GEICO for her totaled 2013 Ford Focus.
