Senior Warriors win league honors

Cougars nab Wheat State recognition

Several senior Marion Warriors received Heart of America League honors for their performance on the field in an 8-3 season that ended in the second round of playoffs.

First team offensive honors went to senior lineman Antone Vinduska and running backs Corbin Wheeler and Jack Schneider. Senior linemen Jarret McLinden and Tyler Palic and tight end Garrett Hoffner were named to the second team.

Hoffner picked up first team honors as a punter, while senior kicker Austin Neufeld received honorable mention.

Defensively, first team honors went to McLinden on the line, Palic at linebacker, and Wheeler as a defensive back. Vinduska picked up second team honors on the line. Honorable mention went to senior defensive back Zach Stuchlik.

High school football players from Centre, Goessel, and Peabody-Burns were named to the all-league team.

The Wheat State all-league team included, from Centre: senior Max Svoboda, sophomore Jensen Riffel, and junior Xavier Espinoza. From Goessel: junior Zach Zogelman. From Peabody-Burns: sophomore Jess Philpot.

Honorable mention included sophomore Braxton Smith from Centre, senior Carson Sterk from Goessel, and sophomore Landon Rives from Peabody-Burns.
