Seeking a newborn king

Staff writer

A timeless Christmas classic reenactment of the birth of Jesus was presented Sunday by children of the Christian Church and Good News Christian Fellowship.

As Joseph and Mary were in a Bethlehem stable where they lodged because they could find no other place to stay, animals portrayed by children in costumes gazed at the baby.

Three young shepherds, alerted to the birth by an announcement from an angel, came to see the infant as well. Then three magi from the east asked King Herod where to find the baby, and went to Bethlehem bearing gifts.

Traci Helmer, who coordinated the program with help from Sunday School teachers Diane Griffin and Shawna Winter, said the children began practicing for the presentation in October, learning the songs during Sunday School.

Children, three through high school, presented the show during the sermon portion of the 10:30 a.m. service.
