Runners set fastest times of year at Halstead meet

Every Marion High School runner competing at Thursday’s Halstead meet ran their fastest time of the year.

Senior Colin Williams had his fastest race of the year, running the 5K race in 18 minutes, 53 seconds and placing 27th.

Freshman Colton Boudreaux ran 22:53 for 87th and a personal record in the JV race. Freshman Nathan Shields did not race due to a leg injury.

Sophomore Bethany Grimmett cut three minutes off her time to set a new personal record at 30:39 for 73rd. Exchange student Elisa Ortiz returned from an ankle injury and ran the race in 27:49, earning 61st and a personal record.

Results from Tuesday’s meet at Eureka were not available by press time.
