Raylene Jean Maloun, 74, died Saturday at Newton Medical Center.

Born Oct. 29, 1942, to Kenneth and Jessie (Tucker) Smith in Peoria, Illinois, Maloun grew up and attended school in Kansas.

She was a homemaker and had worked in a care home. She resided in Hesston for the past six years.

She is survived by son Scott Harris of Peabody; daughters, Sherri Landis of Lehigh, Brenda Bartel of Hillsboro, Jeanelle Coats of Walton, Susan Webb of Peabody, and Iris Maloun of Newton; five brothers; four sisters; 24 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by stepdaughter Frances Maloun and husband Frank Maloun.

A funeral service is at 1 p.m. today at Zeiner Funeral Home in Marion. Interment was at Pilsen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate assistance with expenses.
