The hunt for a new superintendent is on, as USD 410 board of education accepted Thursday the resignation, effective June 30, of Steve Noble, who recently was selected to become superintendent of Topeka-Seaman USD 345 beginning July 1.
Kansas Association of School Boards will assist in the superintendent search, Noble said. A team assembled by KASB will review applications and present top candidates to the school board, which will conduct interviews and make the final selection. If all goes well, a new superintendent could be named early in March.
Noble said the job should attract quality applicants.
“This district is well-respected across the state of Kansas,” he said. “The state looks at USD 410 as a high-quality district not only in student achievement and outcomes, but with amicable and strong working relationship between the superintendent and the board and the staff. It’s not a high-turnover district, so that speaks well of the board of education and the community and the expectations for what we want to be about.”
Noble will work through the remainder of his contract, which ends June 30, taking a few vacation days along the way to help with making a quick transition to his new job.
“This has nothing to do with me not being completely satisfied and appreciative of USD 410,” Noble said. “A couple of years ago there were some goals that got redefined for me and my family, professional goals and personal goals that became more clear in my mind. I thought I would reach out to see if any or all of those were attainable.”
