Hillsboro

March 20 — Reports of possible child abuse in the 400 block of S. Jefferson St., illegal dumping at the tree dump, and a traffic complaint in the 200 block of W. B St. were investigated.

March 21— Evidence was returned to its owner, and a civil stand-by was performed.

March 22 — Reports of an unknown person or persons that had used a Hillsboro resident’s Social Security number on a tax form and used their bank account to try to purchase a cell phone were investigated. A report of two juveniles fighting in the 400 block of S. Main St. was investigated, after which one juvenile was taken into police protective custody. A reckless driver complaint on Ash St. was investigated.

March 23 — A person locked out of their vehicle was assisted, and a possible house fire at First and Madison Sts. was investigated.

Thursday — A report of two reckless drivers on US-56 was investigated.

Friday — A report of several musical instruments stolen from Tabor College, a report of a trash can on fire at Washington and Grand Sts., and a report of an illegal fire in the 300 block of N. Jefferson St. were investigated.

Saturday — A report of a child with an assault rifle was investigated, and the gun was found to be a toy with orange tape on it. A report of vehicles driving recklessly at the fairgrounds was investigated.

March 21 — A report of a scam was investigated.

March 22 — A welfare check in the 1500 block of Victory Ln. was performed, and a report of a scam was investigated.

March 23 — A report of a possible theft in the 100 block of S. Coble St. was investigated. The owners of a jet ski and camper that were blocking the roadway behind Pizza Hut were asked to move their property. Occupants involved in an injury accident in the 2000 block of Sunrise St. were transported back to their town. A report of reckless motorcycle riding was investigated in an alleyway in the 200 block of N. Roosevelt St. A report of a dog-at-large in the 700 block of S. Roosevelt was investigated. A report of harassment in the 600 block of Lawrence St. was investigated.

Thursday — A report of a dog-at-large in the 200 block of N. Freeborn St. was investigated. A report of an IRS scam was investigated.

Friday — Two complaints of nuisance properties in the 500 block of N. Lincoln St. and on Santa Fe St. were taken. A business’s door was discovered ajar and the building was secured.

Sunday — A fallen wire in the 500 block of Walnut St. was invest gated and a cable company was notified. Citations for speeding and an expired driver’s license were issued near US-56 and Eisenhower Rd.
