Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded.

Hillsboro

June 3 – A dog owner received a citation for a vicious dog running free in the 300 block of N. Madison St. A dog owner was bitten by his dog in the 400 block of S. Washington St. A runaway juvenile was located at Ampride. Police checked on the welfare of a resident in the 400 block of N. Ash St.

June 4 – A woman who had been reported as missing by her parents was found in Finney County.

June 5 – A report of a suspicious person at Hillsboro Community Hospital ended up being someone going to the emergency room. Traffic concerns in the 100 block of N. Washington St. were investigated, and a motorist was warned for having expired registration in the 100 block of N. Cedar St.

Thursday – Police investigated report of sexual assault involving a juvenile five years ago. A pair of loose dogs reported near Memorial Park could not be found. Another dog owner received a citation for a loose dog. A person reported lost property.

Friday – A skunk exhibiting strange behavior near Memorial Park could not be found.

Saturday – A wallet found on US-56 was returned to its owner, and a 5-year-old child reported missing was found by parents at their house. A noise complaint was investigated in the 100 block of N. Main St.

Sunday – A resident complained about a barking dog, and an unwelcome visitor was asked to leave property in 100 block of S. Date St.

Marion

June 3 – A dog that killed a chicken in the 1000 block of Nickerson St. was taken to Animal Health Center. The owner received a citation. A separate dog owner was ticketed after a letter carrier reported an aggressive dog running free in the 400 block of Locust St. A dog running free near Walnut and Santa Fe St. was picked up, and the owner was contacted.

An officer investigated a parking complaint in the 800 block of E. Main St. but determined that a trailer there was legally parked on private property.

A driver was cited for allegedly having no license, no registration, and no insurance in the 1200 block of Commercial St. A motorist was warned about a defective headlight near Main and Walnut Sts. A driver in the 100 block of W. Main St. was warned about improper backing. A temporary license plate was reported lost.

June 4 – After being contacted by police, an owner immediately picked up a dog that had been running free. A resident complained about feral cats.

A bicycle was found and taken to the police department.

Tickets were issued for driving with a suspended license and having no proof of insurance in the 700 block of S. Cedar St. and for speeding and having no proof of insurance in the 600 block of Main St.

Warnings were issued for speeding near Main and Roosevelt Sts. and for having no taillight at Main and 2nd Sts.

June 5 – A door-to-door salesman near Coble and Lawrence St. was found to have a valid permit. Officers checked on the welfare of a resident in the 200 block of N. 2nd St. and helped a resident with a wheelchair the 1500 block of E. Main St.

Thursday – Drivers were warned for not stopping at a relatively new stop sign at 3rd and Santa Fe Sts. and for speeding in the 700 block of E. Main St. and near Main and Elm Sts.

A dog reported to be running free in the 100 block of N. Roosevelt St. could not be located.

Friday – A dog owner was ticketed for having two dogs loose in a front yard in the 200 block of S. Freeborn St.

Officers answered questions about a landlord-tenant dispute and investigated reports of disturbances in the 1200 block of E. Main St. and the 700 block of N. Cedar St. A victim of the first disturbance did not want to talk to police. The other disturbance remains under investigation.

Officers transported a patient from St. Luke Hospital to Prairie View Mental Health Center in Newton.

Saturday – A dog running free in the 1000 block of E. Main St. was returned to its rural Marion owner

A driver who failed to pay for gasoline in the 1200 block of E. Main St. was located the next day and returned to pay for the gas.

A driver was warned for speeding near Locust and Lawrence Sts.

Officers found no crime had been committed after a disturbance was reported in the 100 block of N. Roosevelt St.

Sunday – Two dogs were reported running free in the 200 block of N. Lincoln St. Their owner was found to be already looking for the dogs.

An officer conferred with a resident about a civil matter in the 100 block of N. Roosevelt St.

Warnings were issued for failing to stop at a stop sign in the 500 block of E. Main St. and for having an obstructed license plate in the 500 block of S. 3rd St.

Peabody

May 27 — Police took reports on a child-custody exchange in the 200 block of W. Division St. and a possible violation of a protection-from-abuse order that had not yet been served in the 100 block of W. 6th St.

May 28 — A criminal damage to property report proved unfounded. Police again investigated a report of harassment in the 100 block of W. 6th, where a protection-from-abuse order had not been served. Police removed an electrical extension cord from the street in the 200 block of E. Division St., where someone was using a neighbor’s sump pump.

May 29 — Police began an investigation of fiduciary abuse of a Department for Children and Families client in the 700 block of N. Prairie Lawn Rd. and took a report of theft of narcotics from a residence in 300 block of N. Pine St.

May 30 — Lauren R. Wolf, 34, Peabody, was arrested on a warrant alleging failure to appear in Peabody Municipal Court.

June 9 — Teresa M. McGonigal, 45, Peabody, was arrested on a warrant alleging failure to appear in Peabody Municipal Court.

June 10 — Matthew M. Frazier, 25, Peabody, was arrested on suspicion of assault, disorderly conduct, and interference with law enforcement after officers went to the 500 block of N. Walnut St. to investigate a report of theft of a car that proved to be unfounded.
