Woman arrested on multiple charges

A woman was arrested on multiple drug charges after she allegedly assaulted an officer Thursday in Marion.
The situation escalated after Stephanie Jacobson, 28, of Wichita, and Justin Bowley, 29, of Galva, got into a loud argument at 510 S. Cedar St.
Marion officer Lee Vogel reported the disturbance after Jacobson allegedly beat on his front door and then returned to the scene.
Officer Mike Stone and sheriff’s deputy Bronson Shipman responded to the call.
“I could hear them screaming at each other through my window and it was rolled up,” Stone said. “It literally made the hair on the back of my neck stand up.”
Stone said Jacobson bolted into the house when she saw their patrol cars approaching.
After advising Shipman to stay with Bowley outside, Stone pursued Jacobson inside the residence.
“When I got inside, she was coming back out of a hallway,” Stone said. “She was out of control. It was like she was on fire. I’d never seen anything like it.”
Stone said he tried to calm Jacobson down by asking her what was going on and why there was a large bump on her head, but he said she persisted in charging, screaming at him, and pulling at her hair.
He said he had to keep pushing her back to protect himself.
Stone said he believed she was high on methamphetamines. At one point, Stone got her to calm down. During that time, he said she kept repeating the name of a sibling who has several warrants out for his arrest.
“Then boom, she just blew up again,” Stone said. “I warned her that she would go to jail if she didn’t calm down.”
When Stone finally got Jacobson to calm down again, he had her sit in a chair. Stone said she kicked him in the groin when he approached her.
Despite the shooting pain, Stone said he tried to put her in handcuffs, and she beginning “kicking and punching and fighting” with him. When the cuffs were on, he said he had to pull her out of the house behind him because she refused to walk.
Once outside, Stone said he tried to determine if there was anyone else in the house by asking about her sibling again, to which Jacobson he allegedly replied, “‘What are you talking about? My gun? My gun is in my car.’”
With the possibility of another person in the house, Stone said he and other officers secured the residence by going room-to-room and discovered several misshapen “meth spoons” in plain view that meth-users typically employ when getting high.
Officers also discovered a meth pipe in the back yard, he said.
After that, they pulled out of the house and obtained a warrant to search the rest of residence for drugs a short time later.
A press release from Chief Tyler Mermis said, “Approximately 76.3 grams of methamphetamines with an estimated value of $5,000 were located along with drug paraphernalia.”
Over $1,000 of cash also was seized, along with several types of bullets, a coffee can with a false bottom containing about $100 of prescription medication, including morphine, and several bags of meth. Multiple baggies containing meth residue, and a red box with multiple unused baggies also were confiscated.
Stone said that Jacobson was in the process of moving back to Marion from Wichita.
“She hadn’t even been back for an entire day,” he said.
Stone said Jacobson and Bowley had been in an ongoing relationship for about two years.
Stone said McPherson County Sheriff informed him that responded to a disturbance at Bowley’s residence in Galva earlier that day.
The incident allegedly involved Bowley, Jacobson, and an unnamed woman, alleged to be Bowley’s girlfriend.
Jacobson faces charges of unlawful distribution, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, no drug tax stamp, battery of a law enforcement officer, and disorderly conduct.
Marion police arrested Bowley on charges of disorderly conduct and criminal trespass.
