ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Sept. 23 — A dog loose in the 200 block of S. Cedar St. was returned to its owner. Police investigated a family quarrel in the 200 block of S. Date St. and checked on a driver at US-56 and Adams St. A resident found and turned in a cell phone.

Sept. 24 — A license plate was reported missing.

Sept. 25 — A traffic accident on private property was investigated.

Thursday — Police checked on a false alarm at Emprise Bank. Drivers were warned for failing to yield in the 100 block of N. Adams St. and for parking a disabled vehicle in the 400 block of W. B St.

Friday — A possible Facebook scam reported by a business owner was found not to be a crime. A dog loose in the 300 block of E. 1st St. was returned to its owner.

Saturday — A 29-year-old man was arrested after a disturbance in the 600 block of S. Ash St. Investigation of a report of damage to a door lock and unauthorized entry into an apartment in the 900 block of E. D St. is continuing. Police met with the owner of a barking dog in the 100 block of S. Ash St. They also helped deliver a package dropped off at a wrong address. A driver was warned for having a headlight out at US-56 and Jade Rd.

Sunday — Police helped a driver with a dead battery at US-56 and Falcon Rd., wired up a dangling exhaust pipe in the Dollar General parking lot, and helped a driver locked out of a vehicle. A phone found by a resident was returned to its owner.

MARION

Sept. 23 — A driver was warned for speeding at US-56 and Industrial St.

Sept. 24 — No problems were found in checking on a disturbance in the 400 block of S. Roosevelt St. A dog was reported missing. A parking complaint in the 700 block of E. Main St. was investigated. Drivers were warned for an unspecified moving violation near Weldon and Cedar Sts. and for speeding at US-56 and Industrial St. and at US-56 and Cedar St.

Sept. 25 — An unattended death in the 300 block of E. Santa Fe St. was investigated. No cows were found in the city limits after police received a report of cows mooing in the 1500 block of E. Main St. An unwanted visitor who trespassed in the 100 block of S. Roosevelt St. was contacted in the 700 block of S. Cedar St. Property reportedly found in the 700 block of E Main St. was not located. No problems were found in checking on a report of suspicious activity near Arbor and Grant Sts.

Thursday — Suspicious activity in the 1200 block of Commercial St. was not located. Drivers were warned for defective equipment at an unspecified location and for speeding at Main and Walnut Sts.

Friday — Fuel theft was reported in the 1500 block of E. Lawrence St.; no offense report was released. Police gave a ride to a person trying to walk to Florence, talked to a resident of the 200 block of Forest St. about a civil matter, and spoke to another person about his or her driving record. A driver was warned for speeding at US-56 and Timber Rd.

Saturday — Police separated people involved in a quarrel in the 300 block of S. Cedar St. A driver was warned for speeding, and another was ticketed for having an expired license and an equipment violation at US-56 and Industrial St.

Sunday — Police talked to two people found in Central Park after midnight. No problems were found in checking on a report of suspicious activity in the 600 block of S. Cedar St.
