ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

May 22 — A driver in the 400 block of N. Ash St. was warned about an equipment violation. Traffic control was provided for a vehicle at US-56 and Hillsboro’s industrial park. Police helped a resident with personal property issues and met with a resident regarding concerns about social media.

May 23 — Police met with a resident concerned about a vehicle being repossessed. A driver at Ash St. and Grand Ave. was warned about an equipment violation. Debris was removed from Indigo Rd. at 170th Rd. No problems were found in checking on a resident of the 200 block of S. Elm St.

May 24 — A driver in the 200 block of S. Main St. was warned for speeding. Questions about the legality of tinted vehicle windows were answered. No problems were found after checking on a report of suspicious activity in 300 block of N. Ash St.

Thursday — Police provided extra patrols for a helicopter ambulance left overnight at Hillsboro Community Hospital after it developed mechanical issues. Hillsboro High School’s softball team was escorted out of town for its trip to the state tournament. Police gave a resident a ride home and helped residents regarding thefts in Park City and Maize. A driver in the 700 block of S. Ash St. was warned about equipment violations and one in the 100 block of W. Grand Ave. was warned about making a J-turn. A disconnected 911 call from Hillsboro Heights was determined to be the result of accidental dialing.

Friday — A non-injury accident at D and Wilson Sts. was investigated. Debris was removed from US-56 at Adams St. A driver on US-56 at Orchard Dr. was warned about an equipment violation, and another US-56 driver was warned for speeding. Police discussed with a resident a civil matter about vehicle insurance.

Saturday — A dog owner was ticketed after the owner’s dog, running free, killed chickens in another resident’s yard. A driver at US-56 and Ash St. was ticketed for speeding. Another driver on US-56 was warned for speeding. Police also provided directions to a driver. A lost cell phone was found on Adams St. No problems were found in checking what was reported to be a suspicious vehicle in the 300 block of N. Jefferson St.

Sunday — Police stood by at Hillsboro Community Hospital because of an emotional disturbed person. Curfew was enforced at the city’s sports complex. A driver at US-56 and Adams St. was warned for speeding.

MARION

May 22 — Police interceded in an argument over inappropriate texting, but neither resident wanted a report filed. A suicidal man was taken by ambulance to St. Luke Hospital.

May 23 — Police helped a trucker unload an item at a business on N. Roosevelt St. An accident on private property was documented.

May 24 —A motorist who had pulled over on US-56 was merely making a phone call.

Thursday — Police escorted down Main St. a bus carrying the Marion High School baseball team to Great Bend for state tournament competition.

Friday — Reported bullying in Central Park was discussed with parents and children. Charles R. Luchi, 69, Marion, was arrested on a warrant for failing to appear in court. Planning for incidents during Chingawassa Days was updated. A resident had questions about a report of an accident that occurred in April.

Saturday — A protection from abuse order was explained to both parties involved.
