Activity reports

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded.

Hillsboro

Dec. 21 — A motorist was warned for speeding in the 200 block of E. D St. Harold W. Schultz, 68, Hillsboro, reported that $775 was stolen from the 300 block of S. Cedar St. Complaints were made of a dog running free.

Dec. 22 — A report was made of an unwanted person at Hillsboro Community Hospital, but police decided no action was needed.

Dec. 23 — A report was made of damage to a vehicle after a delivery truck’s door rope stuck on a dumpster at Salem Home and started dragging it. A report was made of possible forgery or theft in the 100 block of E. D St. A report was made of an accident in the 400 block of N. Ash St.

Thursday — A report of a suspicious person in the 600 block of W. Heights Circle proved unfounded. A person dropped off a dog at the police station that had been running free in the 200 block of N. Jefferson St.

Friday — An officer spoke with a person who wanted to retrieve an item that fell into a neighbor’s yard in the 400 block of S. Ash St.

Saturday — A motorist received assistance with a flat tire in the 600 block of Orchard Dr.

Sunday — A motorist was warned for speeding on US-56. A report of a downed power line in the 300 block of N. Ash St. proved to be a downed cable line. A report of a dog owner chasing his or her dog near Tabor College proved to be someone walking a dog. A dog that had been running free was returned to its owner in the 300 block of S. Ash St.

Dec. 21 — A motorist was warned in the 200 block of W. Main St. for having a headlight out.

Dec. 22 — Two motorists were warned for various traffic violations. A motorist received assistance with directions.

Dec. 23 — A motorist was warned for having a trailer in the roadway in the 200 block of S. Miller St. Police provided traffic control at a grass fire near US-77 and 190th Rds. A motorist was cited for speeding 79 miles per hour in a 65 mph zone on US-56 near Cedar St. A motorist was warned for not having headlights and for being out after curfew near Freeborn and Nickerson Sts. A suspicious vehicle was checked in the 100 block of E. Main St. but no issues were found.

Friday — Police responded to a false alarm in the 500 block of N. Coble St. Three motorists were warned for various traffic violations.

Saturday — A dog owner retrieved his or her dog that was running free in the 700 block of S. Cedar St. Three motorists were warned for various traffic violations.

Sunday — Three motorists were warned for various traffic violations.

Peabody

Dec. 22 — Megan Sayers reported that a mailbox post was broken at 214 W. Division St.

Thursday — Three motorists were cited for speeding on US-50 near Peabody, and one motorist also was cited for not having insurance.

Saturday — A motorist was cited on US-50 near Peabody for driving with a revoked license and not having insurance.
