Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded.

Hillsboro

July 6 — A bicycle was reported stolen. A fireworks complaint in the 500 block of S. Ash St. was investigated.

July 7 — Two dogs were reported running free. Reports that two other dogs were intentionally shut in a building proved unfounded.

July 8 — A vehicle tag was reported lost or stolen in the 900 block of E. D St. A resident complained because a neighbor’s vehicle was parked partially on his driveway in the 300 block of N. Main St. A motorist returned after leaving without paying for gas at Ampride. A vehicle was reported disabled on US-56.

Thursday — Suspicious activity was investigated in the 400 block of S. Adams St. Drug charges are pending in a case that began when a motorist was warned for failing to yield in the 600 block of N. Ash St. Motorists were warned for tag violations in the 200 block of W. D St., and for having no brake lights at Commerce and Jade Rds.

Friday — A driver was warned for an illegal J-turn in the 100 block of W. Grand Ave. Trespassing complaint in the 500 block of S. Washington St. was reported, as was a scam attempt in the 500 block of N. Ash St. A motorist was cited for speeding on US-56. A person reportedly refusing to leave a residence in the 300 block of W. D St. left voluntarily after police arrived. A juvenile was warned for being out after curfew on Main St.

Saturday — A suspicious noise was reported in the 700 block of W. Grand St.

Sunday — A locksmith was contacted after a motorist locked keys inside a running vehicle.

July 6 — Officers picked up a dog running free in the 500 block of S. Roosevelt St. A motorist was warned for not using a turn signal near Main St. and Eisenhower Dr.

July 7 — Officers killed a sick raccoon near Marion’s tree disposal site.

July 8 — Officers talked with a property owner about an abandoned vehicle in the 1200 block of E. Main St. A resident was warned for blowing grass clippings into the roadway in the 100 block of N. Roosevelt St. A dog owner was cited for letting a dog run free in the 500 block of Locust St.

Thursday — Fallen tree limbs were removed from the roadway near Hudson and Cedar Sts. A person in a wheelchair was helped after getting stuck in mud. A motorist was warned for failing to stop at a stop sign. Officers responded to a false burglary alarm in the 1000 block of Industrial St.

Friday — Officers investigated a non-injury accident near Santa Fe and 3rd Sts. A man who reportedly walked away from St. Luke Hospital was picked up by police and taken to his residence at Westview Manor in Peabody.

Saturday — Officers responded to a commercial alarm set off by electrical problems in the 100 block of E. Main St. A disturbance reported near the 300 block of S. 3rd St. could not be found. A report of a suspicious person in the 1000 block of E. Main St. proved unfounded. Motorists were warned for having no brake lights near Main and Santa Fe Sts., no headlights near Main and Lincoln Sts., and no brake lights near 3rd and Main Sts. A motorist was cited for parking on the wrong side of the street in the 1400 block of Denver St.

Sunday — Two dogs reported running free on S. Coble St. could not be found. Two loose dogs in the 600 block of S. Roosevelt St. were taken to Animal Health Center.

Peabody

Thursday — A drug investigation was opened.

Saturday — A confrontation between a Westview Manor employee and resident was investigated.
