Peabody-Burns boys, girls lose to Little River

Staff writer

In Friday’s game against the Little River Redskins, Peabody-Burns Warriors fought hard but fell short 25-36.

Coach Caleb Good was disappointed with the loss, but said the team gave a good fight.

“I thought that our team defense was pretty good,” Good said. “I was happy with that and how we made a couple adjustments, and then even offensively I was happy with our execution, but we just couldn’t convert. But our execution was pretty good.”

Austin Reynolds led the team scoring with 10 points.

The Lady Warriors also fell to Little River, with a final score of 22-44.

Coach Scott Bauer said defensively, the team is giving themselves a chance to win, but offense still needs a bit of work.

“It’s gonna sound like a broken record but we have to find a way to score,” Bauer said. “We’re slowly starting to figure it out, but until we can figure out how to score, we’re going to struggle.”

Tori Pickens led the girls with 10 points, while Anna Lubbers scored 6.

One highlight from the girls game was senior Mallory Harris took the ball from a Little River player, ran down the court to lay up the ball and score two points for the Lady Warriors.

Both teams lost Tuesday’s home games against the Centre Cougars. Girls lost 15-35, and boys lost 39-62.

Both Peabody-Burns teams will face Rural Vista Heat on Jan. 6.
