Criminal threat, damage to property

Derrick Ryan LaPlate, 31, of Hillsboro, was arrested on multiple charges at 10:50 p.m. Nov. 22 at 112 N. Jefferson St. after allegedly causing an estimated $1,000 in damage to the property’s front door and threatening the life of the investigating officer. LaPlate faces charges of disorderly conduct, criminal trespass, criminal threat, and criminal damage of property.

Operating a vehicle without ignition interlock device

Toby Lee Jones, 25, of Hillsboro, was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle without an interlock device, and refusal to submit to a preliminary breath and saliva test at 9:10 a.m. Nov. 27 in the 100 block of N. Jefferson St. Official police reports indicated that Jones was suspected of using alcohol. Officer Gary Slater said Jones had allegedly taken his girlfriend’s car without her consent. The car did not have an ignition interlock device.

Operating a vehicle without a valid license or insurance

Tommie Gene Cantrell, 50, of Troy, Ohio, was arrested for allegedly operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license or liability insurance at 1:42 p.m. Nov. 28 in the 400 block of N. Ash St.

Stalking

Andrew Michael Schaefer, 21, of Lyons, was arrested after allegedly making personal contact with a girl under the age 18 at approximately 11:10 Nov. 28 in the 300 block of Birch St., allegedly violating a protection from stalking order.

Violation of protection order

Todd Portner, 51, Florence, reported to police that a protection order was violated at 11:35 a.m. Nov. 18 in the 200 block of W. 5th St. in Florence.
