Officer teams in the South Central FFA district competed Friday in Arkansas City in presenting opening and closing rituals. Centre placed seventh, and its sentinel, Greg Oborny, placed first, making him the district master ritual sentinel.
In opening ceremonies, Oborny was the first to explain his position: “by the door.”
“Through this door pass many friends of the FFA,” he said. “It is my duty to see that the door is open to our friends at all times and that they are welcome. I care for the meeting room and paraphernalia. I strive to keep the room comfortable and assist the president in maintaining order.”
Oborny said later that the Centre chapter meets monthly.
“If things get out of hand during a meeting, I help the president restore order,” he said.
The senior was secretary last year.
“I really like being an officer,” he said. “I get to help plan what we are going to do for the year.”
Other officers on the ritual team were Dylan Deines, Zach Barney, Raeanne Bryant, Grace Knepp, and Payton Harms.
They also competed in a leadership information test.
